Harry Potter star/vegan activist Evanna Lynch announced new details regarding her forthcoming vegan podcast. Lynch’s podcast will be called The ChickPeeps, and her three co-hosts will include vegan actor/fitness enthusiast Robbie Jarvis, vegan spiritual expert Momoko Hill, and fellow vegan activist Tylor Starr—a Harry Potter fan and co-founder of animal-rights organization The Fantastic Beasts Foundation. “I feel like we just have a good mix of voices there,” Lynch tells VegNews, “and they’re all really nice people as well, which was important to me.” The actress was inspired to create the podcast to help her teenage fanbase dispel the myth that veganism is “radical and extreme” when discussing their choices with their parents. “I was vegetarian and would speak about the ethics of it, and then I realized the inconsistencies of it because people were asking, ‘Why aren’t you vegan?’” Lynch says. “I think there was a lot of pressure just to know everything, and I felt really overwhelmed.” The podcast will feature a variety of interviews and explore basic topics (such as how to talk to non-vegan people proactively) and more serious ideas—including the overlap between veganism and eating disorders. “I just want to get people together and have these conversations, and learn as we go,” Lynch said. “I still have a lot of questions I haven’t fully investigated, and the podcast gives me the opportunity to do that.” Three episodes of The ChickPeeps are scheduled to be taped this week, but Lynch wants to complete five before the show’s tentative launch in October—at which point the podcast might become a weekly series.
