Ralph Lauren’s Daughter Debuts Vegan Candy Line

Candy-store chain Dylan’s Candy Bar owner Dylan Lauren—daughter of famed fashion designer Ralph Lauren—announced this week the launch of vegan candy line “Treat Yourself,” which includes sour straws and sour unicorn magic candies. Lauren first opened the three-story flagship candy store in New York City in 2001 with the mission of recreating Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory thanks to brightly colored candy and pop-art installations. “My dad is a trendsetter,” Lauren told news show “CBS Sunday Morning.” “I see competitors popping up, and he’s always said, ‘Don’t look at them. If you watch them, it’s going to slow you down. Go your path but don’t be threatened by [them].’” To differentiate the line from her existing offerings, Lauren chose to offer the vegan products in simple packaging. “Because everything else is so colorful,” Lauren said, “I want people to understand it’s vegan, it’s gluten-free, nut-free, allergen-free.” Lauren is currently expanding her 16-outlet shop to Dubai and Japan and hopes to open a candy theme park in the future. Lauren’s packaged candy products are now available at Target.
