New York City’s beloved food truck The Cinnamon Snail has emerged from its hiatus to open a brick-and-mortar storefront at the new Pennsy Market—a collection of food concepts by celebrity chefs Mario Batali, Pat LaFrieda, and Marc Forgione—near Penn Station. The location will cater to the commuter crowd and feature a dining lounge with communal tables, sofas, high top tables, and an outdoor space. The new shop will serve the truck’s most popular burgers and sandwiches, along with weekly specials. Cinnamon Snail fans will be pleased to know that the famous doughnuts—such as the award-winning vanilla-bourbon crème brulée—will be on the menu every day as well. Chef/owner Adam Sobel told VegNews that he is “looking forward to being back with a huge daily presence,” adding that another creative project is also in the works. The truck will also be back on the street in the spring to serve vegan food at special events and farmers’ markets in New York and New Jersey. In addition to Cinnamon Snail, this year vegan trucks from around the country have found footing in the cities that love them, including comfort-food favorite Homegrown Smoker in Portland, OR and ice cream and espresso gurus Seattle Cookie Counter in Seattle, WA.
