Anticipated fast-food restaurant will open its first US location in San Francisco this weekend.

Singaporean-born vegan fast-food restaurant VeganBurg is slated to open its first US location this Saturday at the historic intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets in San Francisco. Founded in 2010, VeganBurg aims to be “the burger of the new generation” and will serve 100-percent plant-based fare in a fast-casual atmosphere. In addition to cold-pressed juices and “sidekicks” such as veggie dogs, homemade spinach pops, and seaweed fries, the menu will feature creative burgers such as the Creamy Shrooms, Hawaiian Teriyaki, and Char-Grilled Satay—all made with locally-baked organic whole wheat buns—with add-ons such as vegan bacon, cheese, and avocado. The restaurant announced its arrival in the US this October and moved its headquarters from Singapore to San Francisco shortly thereafter. “Who we are fits naturally in this city,” VeganBurg’s head of marketing Cynthia Ridell stated. Plant-based fast food restaurants have seen success across the country with the well-received opening of Amy’s Drive Thru in California this September, and the overwhelmingly successful launch of all-vegan restaurant chain by CHLOE in New York City.
