Vegetarian actress Joanna Lumley, former Bond girl and star of the British television show Absolutely Fabulous, speaks out against horse-drawn carriages in New York City. In an interview with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), Lumley explained that, “people have an old romantic notion about [horse-drawn carriages]. I would just say, Please think again—think of the freezing and boiling weather they are forced to work in, and think of the cramped city stables where the horses are kept.” Lumley also addressed other animals-rights concerns such as fur, foie gras, and animal testing.
