World’s Longest Married Couple Credit Veg Diet

Karam and Katari Chand reveal the secrets to their 87 year marriage are communication, laughter, and a vegetarian diet.

Indian couple Karam and Katari Chand have been married for 87-years—a partnership that has surpassed the current Guiness Book of World Records holders for the title of world’s longest married couple by five years. The couple spoke to The Daily Mail about the importance of open communication, laughter, and a vegetarian diet to their marriage. “My trick is to make Katari laugh … I have been told laughing makes you live longer … my wife is still alive so it must have worked!” said Karam, who is 107. “I used to make him a nice fresh meal every night. We are vegetarian so I bought lots of fresh vegetables and made sure he was eating healthy food,” countered 100 year-old Katari. Plant-based diets have frequently been linked to increased longevity and a longer lifespan.
