Vegan Sets New Guinness World Pushup Record

Eighty-two knuckle pushups in 60 seconds have put a vegan Ayurvedic practitioner in the record books.

A 45-year-old vegan in India has broken a Guinness World Record by performing 82 knuckle push-ups in one minute. Hailing from the coastal state of Kerala in southern India, KJ Joseph—an Ayurvedic practitioner—completed the extreme fitness challenge last month and bested the efforts of previous record-holder Ron Cooper of New York, who completed 79 pushups in 2015. Officials of Guinness World Records are in the process of validating the achievement, but Joseph holds several other accomplishments, including being entered into the Universal Record Forum for doing 2,092 pushups in an hour and for breaking iron bars with his bare hands—all without the need for animal protein.
