Canada-based vegan cheese company Daiya Foods has been nominated as a finalist in the Consumer Products category of the 2016 British Columbia Export Awards—launched in 1982 to celebrate companies that substantially contribute to the growth of the economy. The awards recognize businesses that export products across 11 categories, including Clean Technology, Digital Privacy & Entertainment, and Natural Resources. “We are very proud of Daiya’s team for their success in persevering with their innovation and leading the way with their plant-based food solutions,” says President of SYSPRO Canada (the sponsor of the event), James Moffatt. Daiya co-founder Greg Blake expressed his gratitude for the nomination and stated, “As a leading purveyor of plant-based foods, we strive to be innovative in our approach to providing our customers with tasty foods that are better for you, and we’re pleased to be recognized for our success in meeting this demand in the marketplace.” Winners will be announced on November 18 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Vancouver, Canada. Daiya Foods is a winner of the 2016 VegNews Veggie Awards in the category of Favorite Staple Cheese.
