London’s First Zero-Waste Market Opens in September

Zero-waste market Zero Mkt Ldn will take place from 10am-5pm on September 29 at the Conservatory in the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in Kensington, London. This not-for-profit initiative will have various vendors selling vegan food and drinks, eco-friendly products, and sustainable clothing. Founders Abigail Penny and James Morgan hope the event will be a celebration of the vegan lifestyle that will educate others on product alternatives to conserve and preserve the planet. “As consumers we can choose to have a positive impact on this world,” Penny and Morgan said. “Animal agriculture, non-recyclable plastics, and throwaway fashion each have devastating impacts on our environment, so we hope that by bringing exciting alternatives to our community we can empower and equip others to change their habits and perspectives too.” Zero Mkt Ldn partnered with food charity City Harvest to redistribute unsold food from the event to the homeless community in London. Penny and Morgan will also be planting trees to offset carbon emissions created by vendors needing to travel to the venue. Similarly, zero-waste, vegan store Hetu opened in London last year with the same efforts to conserve and preserve the planet.
