Science Daily article examines nutritional studies, enforcing the disease-fighting benefits of a plant-based diet.

A recent article in Science Daily reveals research that suggests plant-based diets help to reverse and prevent chronic diseases. The article examines nutritional genomics studies seeking to explain ways that bioactive compounds (vitamins, antioxidants, and other phytochemicals) in plant foods interact with cells, enzymes, hormones, and DNA in the human body. The article’s author, Toni Tarver of Food Technology magazine, points to oxygen radical-fighting foods such as green tea, soybeans, and green vegetables, as well as highlighting the benefits of the bioactive phytochemical compounds in plant foods.
