Vegan Yoga Guru Stars in New Reality Series

Koya Webb will teach principles of nonviolence through veganism during the six-week docu-drama Yoga Girls.

Vegan yogi Koya Webb will co-star in a new series called  Yoga Girls set to premiere this weekend on health and fitness network Z Living. The hour-long docu-drama is set in Los Angeles and follows Webb and a cast of yoga professionals as they compete to build client rosters in the secretly cutthroat world of yoga. Webb—who has been vegan for 12 years—follows the nonviolent principle of ahimsa and tells VegNews she believes that “veganism is ahimsa in practice because you're being kind and not harming your health, animals, or the planet.” The yoga guru started a movement called “Get Loved Up” in which she teaches veganism as a main principle to achieving balance. “I'm vegan because I think it’s not only the most optimal nutrition for me,” Webb says, “but also one of the best ways we can reduce our carbon footprint. By eating less meat and more fruit and vegetables, the world could prevent several million deaths per year, cut global-warming emissions substantially, and save billions of dollars annually in healthcare costs and climate damage.” Part of the show is filmed at Moon Juice, where the cast will indulge in plant-based smoothies and superfood breakfasts and snacks. Yoga Girls—billed as putting the “Om” in “OMG”—will run for six weeks every Sunday beginning this weekend. This summer, Z Living aired the series The Big Fat Truth—a show that promoted plant-based living created by former The Biggest Loser producer JD Roth.
