Chain restaurant White Castle expects to give away thousands of sliders (including its vegan options) for free today on National Slider Day. White Castle “Cravers”—fans that subscribe to the chain’s email newsletter—will receive a coupon for a free slider and beverage and a $1.00 discount coupon on a four-pack of sliders (which includes newly launched vegan Veggie Sliders) that can be redeemed in retail stores. White Castle partnered with food brand Dr. Praeger’s to develop its vegan patty and removed l-cystine from its buns in 2015 to make its Veggie Sliders fully vegan. “We pride ourselves in the variety of menu options our Cravers have to choose from, and we’re always looking for new ways to reach more hungry fans,” White Castle Vice President Jamie Richardson. “We’re really excited to further meet our customers anytime and anywhere with our new retail options and we hope everyone will have the opportunity to bite into a slider on National Slider Day.” The chain launched the Impossible Slider—regularly priced at $1.99 and made vegan when ordered without cheese—in April to become the largest fast-food chain to offer the plant-based patty.
