Vegetarian "Fish" Sauce
Known as nam pla in Thailand, fish sauce is a popular Thai seasoning used in most dishes. Here is a fish-free version you can make at home.
Makes about 1 cup
What You Need:
- 3/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 garlic clove, crushed (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon hot red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon lemon or lime juice
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/4 cup water
What You Do:
- Combine all ingredients in a small jar with a tight-fitting lid. Shake until well blended. Keep refrigerated for up to three weeks.
