100 Year-Old Veg Marathoner

Centenarian Fauja Singh, the world's oldest marathon runner, credits his veg diet for his health and longevity.

Last Sunday, 100 year-old Fauja Singh crossed the finish line at the Toronto Waterfront Marathon and earned a spot in the Guinness World Records for being the oldest person to complete a full-distance marathon—and he attributes his remarkable health to his vegetarian diet. Singh, who began running 20 years ago at the age of 81, tells The Times of India that his healthy plant-based diet is what kept him moving. “You need a balanced and wholesome diet. It doesn’t matter how nice to look at or sweet food is—if your body can’t digest it, why eat it?” Singh explains.
