MFA Launches Holiday Ad Against Butterball

The animal-welfare group is airing a consumer warning advertisement asking viewers to refrain from buying Butterball turkeys this Thanksgiving.

Following the release of its haunting undercover video at Butterball turkey farms, which revealed workers violently abusing birds, nonprofit Mercy For Animals has launched a new television campaign against the turkey supplier. The ad, which will air in Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; and Raleigh-Durham, NC (the latter is the site of Butterball headquarters) leading up to Thanksgiving Day, issues a warning to viewers that the company’s workers have been found guilty of criminal cruelty to animals. The ad also features footage of a 2011 undercover investigation at Butterball factory farms by MFA. It will reach nearly one million households and can also be viewed and shared online.
