Alec Baldwin’s 30 Rock Persona to Insult Carriages

The actor’s TV alter ego Jack Donaghy will blast New York’s hansom cabs in an upcoming episode of the hit show.

Actor and animal-activist Alec Baldwin’s television character, Jack Donaghy, is set to denounce New York City’s horse-drawn carriages in an upcoming episode of the hit show 30 Rock. Baldwin told People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals that Donaghy will refer to the carriages as “rolling torture wagons for nature’s most dignified creature,” and said the line was the reason he agreed to appear in a scene featuring a carriage. “It reflects my personal belief that New York should join Toronto, London, and Paris in outlawing hansom cabs from city centers,” says Baldwin. The vegetarian actor adds that he is enthusiastic about the strong support for Intro. 86A from New York’s City Council, a bill that, if passed, would replace the tourist-centric rides with environmentally-friendly classic replica cars.
