Rookie Vegan Chaka Khan Goes Off Medication

After ditching meat and dairy, singer Chaka Khan says she has also ditched her diabetes medication.

After developing type 2 diabetes, funk-soul singer Chaka Khan decided to drastically change her diet and cut out all animal products. Since going vegan, Khan has lost roughly 60 pounds and is now off all of her diabetes medication. The singer tells The Detroit News, “I was on liquids for a year, and that gave me a good jump-start. It sort of changed my whole way of thinking. You have to get the mindset first.” Other famous faces that have turned to plant-based foods to improve their health include former president Bill Clinton and actress Rosie O’Donnell, who both suffered from cardiovascular difficulties.
