The Huffington Post Lists Healthiest US States

Rankings for the most health-conscious states are announced.

Recently, popular online news blog The Huffington Post reported the ranked order of the healthiest states in the country by the United Health Foundation. Coming in at the #1 spot is Vermont. Hawaii came in second, closely followed by New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Minnesota. Nearing the bottom of the list is West Virginia, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Some of the factors in the states’ rankings are based on smoking, sedentary lifestyle, hospitalizations, and rates of deaths including diabetes, obesity, and cancer. Plant-based diets have been scientifically proven to lower the chance of developing cancer, as well as becoming diabetic and obese.
