Rahm Emanuel Supports Veganism

Chicago’s mayor speaks up for plant-based eating on a recent news segment.

On Friday, Chicago mayor and former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel voiced his support for plant-based eating in the hopes of fostering a healthier city. “America’s fittest mayor” (as Emanuel is popularly known) appeared with vegan athlete, author, and former firefighter Rip Esselstyn, local sports anchor Pat Tomasulo, and a Chicago firefighter who had tried Esselstyn's Engine 2 Diet plan and enjoyed a number of health benefits. Though Tomasulo seemed somewhat skeptical of the vegan meal options presented by Esseltstyn, Emanuel urges the anchor to try the food. In the segment Emanuel says that he sees plant-based eating as an important factor in combatting diet-related disease, lowering healthcare costs, and increasing longevity.
