Casey Affleck Calls for an End to Animal Cruelty

Vegan actor Casey Affleck pens a letter to members of the Massachusetts Legislature calling for an end to battery cages, and gestation and veal crates.

Last week, Kristen Bell aired her disapproval of gestation crates, and fellow vegan actor Casey Affleck agrees. Affleck wrote to the members of the Massachusetts Senate on behalf of Farm Sanctuary, The American Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and Massachusetts Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals urging members to support a bill prohibiting cruelty to Massachusetts’s farm animals. Affleck asks that battery cages, veal crates, and gestation crates all be banned, and points out that many food corporations, such as Burger King and Dunkin’ Donuts, are already eliminating these unethical farming practices. He writes, “Animals have the capacity to feel pleasure, pain, fear, and joy … whether the animal is a cat or a chicken, a dog, or a pig.”
