Footage Shows Abuse by Australian Dairy Industry

Recently revealed video depicts that the US dairy industry is not the only one illegally abusing its farm animals.

An undercover investigation by activist group Animals Australia has yielded footage from a Northern Victoria slaughterhouse in which calves are coerced to the kill floor by being dragged, shocked with electric prods, and beaten. Each baby cow will be one of 700,000 that are killed every year by the Australian dairy industry. While Animals Australia has filed a formal complaint with the government agricultural agency, no criminal charges have been brought against the slaughterhouse. Footage of American farms has revealed similar abuses, such as workers at Wyoming Premium Farms in Wheatland hitting pregnant sows with paddles in 2012.
