Runner’s World Interviews Farm Sanctuary President

Co-founder and president of Farm Sanctuary Gene Baur talks about the serious strides he’s taken for animal welfare and his love for running.

At 50 years old, Gene Baur is logging some serious mileage running marathons and using jogging as a means of exploration. Recently, Baur shared his plant-based diet and animal-friendly ethics in an interview with Runner’s World. Baur notes that he fuels up with smoothies made from kale, bananas, spinach, blueberries, and flaxseeds, along with non-dairy milks including hemp, coconut, or soy. He also talks about Farm Sanctuary’s achievements, such as getting gestation crate legislation passed, and most importantly making animal welfare and factory farming a mainstream concern.
