HSUS Undercover Investigation Wins a Webby Award

In a time of murky food industry transparency, the Webby Awards shows the necessity for undercover factory-farm investigations.

At the 2013 Webby Awards, The Humane Society of the United States was honored alongside celebrities such as Kevin Spacey and Jerry Seinfeld for its shocking exposé of Tyson meat supplier Wyoming Premium farms. The video, which received the People’s Voice Award and a Webby Winner Award, shows workers kicking piglets, swinging piglets around by their legs, and striking mother pigs with fists. “These awards underscore the importance of exposés that the agribusiness industry is now trying to ban with anti-whistleblower laws,” says HSUS senior vice president for investigations Jonathan Lovvorn.
