The comedic plant-based recipe website recently claimed Saveur’s award for 2013 Best New Blog (beating out non-veg competitors) and is now being spotlighted by The Washington Post for its fresh, entertaining take on healthier, more compassionate eating habits. The news outlet cites veganisms’ rapidly growing popularity as a key component of Thug Kitchen’s success in addition to the numerous vocal celebrity vegans––such as former President Bill Clinton––who tout the benefits of eating plant-based. The article also lists Vegan Black Metal Chef and Post Punk Kitchen as successful vegan blogs that have used a similar combination of humor and charm to attract a large following beyond just the vegan community.
