Michelle Pfeiffer Cites Vegan Health Benefits

The 55-year-old actress credits veganism for keeping her cholesterol down.

After taking a nine-year hiatus from the movie business, Michelle Pfeiffer is moving back into the spotlight and bringing a healthy vegan lifestyle with her. Recently, in an interview with Ladies’ Home Journal, the 55-year-old actress, who recently starred in a movie with Robert De Niro, was asked about why she switched to a plant-based diet. She cited a CNN special she saw about heart attacks and noted the health problems that her parents had, which included cancer and dementia. “Seeing both of my parents suffer has made me think a lot about longevity and quality of life,” said Pfeiffer whose cholesterol level went down 83 points after she cut out meat and dairy from her diet. “And while it's open to debate, if there's any chance we can prevent a lot of chronic illnesses by the way we eat, why not try it?”
