Animal Agriculture Advocacy Group Forms Super PAC

A Super PAC is being formed to combat animal-rights organizations and support livestock companies.

The Protect the Harvest Political Action Committee, an organization from Iowa that advocates for the animal-agriculture industry, recently announced that it is forming a super PAC to fight animal-rights initiatives, reports the Center for Public Integrity. Super PACs are committees that can raise an unlimited amount of money designated toward advertisements and other public advocacy materials to promote politicians during election time. Protect the Harvest reported that it is determined to alter the political landscape by getting politicians who support the ag-industry elected and defeat those who cooperate with animal-rights groups. On its website, Protect the Harvest notes that groups like the Humane Society of the United States are in its crosshairs, while the HSUS claims that Protect the Harvest is simply a “front group” that is colluding with the ag-industry.
