Following a nationwide scandal over the use of expired meat at its restaurants, McDonald’s Japan introduced a new item to its menu today—Tofu McNuggets. Made with tofu, vegetables, and fish paste, the product launch comes on the heels of a public outcry following the revelation that a Chinese supplier for the fast-food chain was selling expired meat with falsified labels. McDonald’s has halted sales of all chicken products that have come from China and has begun sourcing its meat from Thailand.
