Parent Company of Silk and So Delicious Acquires Vega

Today, vegan nutrition company Vega—makers of popular nutritional shakes, energy bars, and supplements—announced that they are being acquired by the WhiteWave Foods Company. According to Vega president and founder, Charles Chang, “We are confident that WhiteWave will provide us with the expertise and resources to further realize our vision of empowering the world to thrive through clean, plant-based nutrition.” Vega was founded in Canada in 2004 and is part of the fast-growing $8.6 billion nutritional powders, bars, and ready-to-drink beverages market. WhiteWave—one of the leading plant-based food and beverage companies in North America with brands like Silk, So Delicious, and Earthbound Farm—is acquiring Vega for $550 million in cash.
