A United Kingdom soccer club called the Forest Green Rovers of Gloucestershire has removed dairy, eggs, and honey from its stadium, making it the first football team in the world to play in a completely vegan stadium. After having removed meat-based hamburgers from the menu in 2011, chairman Dale Vince—a vegan himself—cited the recent World Health Organization report linking processed meat to increased cancer risk and said that transitioning to a fully vegan menu and showing eventgoers what vegan food is really like was “an important part of our work.” The New Lawn stadium, fitted with solar panels, an “organic,” chemical-free field, and a solar powered lawnmower, serves attendees everything from stuffed mushrooms and pizza to brand new vegan selections from Quorn.
