In celebration of National S’mores Day and its 100th Anniversary, Girl Scouts of the United States of America introduced a vegan Girl Scout S’Mores cookie to its 2017 lineup. The new cookie features a crispy graham cracker dipped in a cream icing and enrobed in chocolate—and is free of artificial colors, preservatives, and partially hydrogenated oils. The cookie was developed in response to consumer trends and will be available in select locations nationwide, and is the newest flavor introduced since 2015. Other vegan Girl Scout cookie flavors include Thin Mints, Lemonades, Thanks-a-lots, and Peanut Butter Patties. Similarly, the growing demand for vegan options has recently influenced the anticipated introduction of almond milk at Starbucks, vegan ice cream at Ben & Jerry’s, and a soon-to-be vegan version of Bailey’s Irish Cream.
