Another vegan flavor from classic ice cream brand Breyers has surfaced. VegNews reader Desiree O’Brien spotted the new Vanilla Peanut Butter flavor—made with almond milk and real peanut butter—at a local Stop & Shop in Millford, CT. O’Brien confirms that the flavor is “really good for anyone who loves peanut butter,” and was excited to try ice cream for the first time. “It’s really great to see all these vegan options being made so we can all enjoy things that we couldn’t eat before,” O’Brien tells VegNews. The new flavor joins Breyers’ other newly released vegan option, Oreo Cookies & Cream, which was spotted in Meijer’s grocery chain by Indiana resident Alyssa Weiss last week. In addition to these two Breyers flavors, plant-based ice cream options have rapidly expanded within the last week, with the Ben & Jerry’s announcement of three new non-dairy additions (Cherry Garcia, Coconut Seven Layer Bar, and Caramel Almond Brittle) to the existent vegan line the Vermont-based company launched last year. Breyers and Ben & Jerry’s share parent company Unilever—which recently obtained vegan certification for the eggless mayonnaise it launched last February.
