Vegan Cauliflower-Based Pizza Crust, Now in 3D

A recent event allowed 300 spectators to 3D print plant-based cauliflower pizza crusts in under one minute.

Ohio-based information technology firm GroundWork recently hosted an event where 300 spectators were treated to 3D-printed, flower-shaped cauliflower pizza crusts. The event was a collaboration between robotics company BeeHex and cauliflower crust company Cali’Flour. While the food company is not exclusively vegan, its plant-based crust (made with a combination of cauliflower, almond flour, and nutritional yeast) was one of the products used for the demonstration. “Cali’Flour represents the type of forward-thinking collaborations we’re looking for,” BeeHex CEO Anjan Contractor said. “Their organic, plant-based approach to crusts appeals to vegan and health-conscious markets that appear ready to grow tenfold over the next year.” BeeHex’s chief marketing officer Jordan French told VegNews the plant-based crust was the most successful product to be 3D printed. Companies around the world are creating vegan foods that take advantage of the most recent technological innovations including Israel-based Lampados (makers of 3D printed vegan sweetener Liteez) and Germany-based Katjes—which 3D prints customizable plant-based gummies.
