NYC Record Dealer to Open Vegan Eatery in Milwaukee

Vegan restaurant Strange Town will move into the space formerly occupied by European-style pub Allium this August. Founded by local record dealer Andy Noble, his cousin Mia LeTendre, and brother Tom Noble (who also sells records, but in Brooklyn, NY), the restaurant will feature a wall of music from the brothers’ personal collection and maintain a relaxed European atmosphere in-line with the 1920s Spanish revival era construction of the building in which it is housed. “The space is so inviting and mellow,” Andy Noble said, “and so conversationally oriented that I like to think that we can be a part of fostering that spirit back into the neighborhood.” Strange Town will serve bar snacks, Sicilian-style pizza, noodle dishes, salads, and complimentary vegan wines. The Nobles credited their ability to be “really progressive” with their menu offerings to the growth of the plant-based dining scene. Last month, newly opened vegan restaurant J. Selby’s—located in Midwestern neighboring state Minnesota—had to shutter for several days due to overwhelming local demand.
