This week, vegan nutrition startup Revere announced that it raised $2 million in venture capital—which the company plans to use to expand its customer base. Revere offers a customized monthly subscription service that delivers vegan pre- and post-workout drink mixes comprised of functional whole-food ingredients such as sweet potato (for stamina), pea protein (for strengthening muscles), and tart cherry (for preventing soreness). “We are not claiming to have created a new super-pill with mythical powers, rather, we’re making it simpler and easier for people to adopt the basic principles of whole-food nutrition that decades of research and intuition have proven to be true,” Revere’s CEO Matthew Scott told media outlet TechCrunch. Vegan athletes such as ultramarathoner Scott Jurek, rugby star Anthony Mullally, and surfer Tia Blanco (among many others) have proven that plant-based nutrition is optimal for top physical performance.
