UK Company Creates Luxe Vegan Condoms for Women

New contraceptives brand HANX wants women to protect themselves while being kind to animals.

United Kingdom-based company HANX launched last week with a line of luxury vegan condoms meant to be worn by men but designed to appeal to women. The condoms are made from fair-trade vegan latex, are wrapped in matte foil, and come in a discreet white box meant to fit into a purse. Gynecologist Sarah Welsh and investment banker Farah Kabir founded HANX with the mission to empower women to take control of their own sexual health. “There isn’t a condom brand in Europe that focuses on women,” Kabir said, “and HANX is the first luxury male condom, designed for women, by women. Up until now, condoms have been designed by men, for men. This needs to change, and we are here to shake things up.” Stateside, vegan company Good Clean Love—another female-focused brand—recently made headlines in Forbes for its cruelty-free approach to sex products.
