Leading plant-based chef Matthew Kenney is bringing a vegan pop-up concept to his Plant Food + Wine restaurant in Venice, CA. Open from July 28 to August 7, the pop-up—named “Arata,” which is Japanese for “fresh” or “new”—originated in Kenney’s culinary incubator in Belfast, Maine, and is spearheaded by Scott Winegard, Kenney’s director of culinary operations. For an exclusive 11-day engagement, Arata will serve a special menu of Far East-inspired plant-based delicacies, including ramen and udon noodle bowls, kimchi pancakes, steamed buns, and desserts such as matcha ice cream sandwiches, toasted sesame cheesecake, and cacao tart. As Kenney’s latest venture, Arata embodies his company’s mission to use “innovative techniques and creative thinking to prepare minimally processed, plant-based cuisine that is delicious, vibrant, and nutritious.” Reservations are available now.
