Vegan Pea Milk Expands to 6,000 Stores Nationwide

Ripple will hit more Target and Whole Foods shelves around the country by the end of next summer.

California-based vegan company Ripple will expand its pea protein-based milk distribution to 6,000 stores by the end of next summer. The company first launched at 3,000 Target and Whole Foods Market stores in April and reports success in the sales of its high-protein 12- and 48-ounce bottles. Ripple’s founders Adam Lowry and Neil Renninger revealed plans to create other dairy-free products—including children’s food, yogurt, cheese, and protein shakes—in the next two years using their proprietary process. “At Target we know we’re delivering incremental growth because Ripple is bringing in consumers to the dairy alternatives category that have not previously shopped there at all,” Renninger said, “so they are super-excited about this." The expansion of the plant-based milk market—which is predicted to grow to $35 billion by 2024—has brought innovative products to store shelves including milk made from flax, vegetables, and pecans.
