Vegan tattoo artist, beauty mogul, and activist Kat Von D is now adding “cruelty-free shoe designer” to her roster of endeavors. Von D posted a clip featuring a sky-high red patent faux leather platform on Facebook this week and announced that she will debut her 26-style shoe line by the end of the year. “I know how hard it is to find high-quality shoes with style that aren’t made from animal leather, fur, or use glues derived from horses and cows, and that you can afford,” Von D said to her Facebook followers. “I’ve been working hard on getting these shoes perfect for you and hoping to launch the collection at the end of the year!” The line will include unisex styles, sky-high platforms, and other styles in a variety of sizes. Von D teased the shoe line—on which she is rumored to be working in partnership with Los Angeles vegan brand Mink—in December. To date, the vegan activist has made many strides for animals in the beauty industry, including raising $236,000 to help laboratory rescue organization Project Chimps and setting a new standard for makeup by phasing out (still in progress) all animal products from her beauty brand, Kat Von D Beauty.
