Israeli news source Haaretz recently noted the rise of cruelty-free cuisine in the populous city of Tel Aviv in an online article. While vegans looking for a quick fix can find the customary dish of falafel and hummus everywhere, Haaretz reports that there are a diverse array of alternative restaurants offering vegan cuisine. One of the city’s newest establishments is Zakaim, which offers an Iranian-inspired Zucchini Freekah and a Jerusalem-style Mango Salad. The Israeli dining mainstay Buddah Burgers has locations throughout the country, and it offers a slew of plant-based dishes including pizza, lentil burgers, and eggplant lasagna. Some other notable Tel Aviv veg-friendly restaurants are The Vegetarian Shawarma, Bookworm, Orna and Ella, and Thai House.
