Israeli Activists Tattoo Livestock Numbers on Arms
On World Vegan Day, animal-rights activists in Israel gathered to raise awareness about animal cruelty.

On November 1, Israeli animal-rights activists gathered in Tel Aviv’s Rabin Square to bring attention to animal cruelty by tattooing their arms with “269,” the number that is branded onto the country’s livestock. The tattooing was meant as a reference to the Holocaust—protestors expressed that they view the mass slaughtering of livestock to be the current Holocaust. Just last month, on World Farm Animals Day, October 2, the group took to the square to imitate farm animals and brand their skin. Since the shocking demonstration the group has published a video of the protest on YouTube and has acquired more than 100,000 views.
