Cancer-causing Chicken

Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles against seven national food chains for knowingly exposing customers to a cancer-causing chemical found in grilled chicken sandwiches. Targeting Burger King, McDonald’s, TGI Friday’s, and four others, PCRM is asking for warnings to be placed in restaurants to inform consumers of this risk. California Supervising Deputy Atty. Gen. Edward Weil, however, argued that “provision of the warning would not be in the public interest” because the chemical in question kills bacteria. Food poisoning or cancer? Hmmm, that’s a toughy.
