Suppliers recover helium at Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Someone this Thanksgiving won’t be passing gas, and it’s not Grandma. This Tofurky Day, Linde North America, one of the world’s largest helium suppliers, will recapture the helium used to fill up the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons. The gas, produced extremely slowly by decaying uranium or thorium, is finite and has become increasingly scarce. Balloon or no balloon, there’s nothing better than a holiday feast sans gas.
