Whole Grains Boost Heart Health
Whole grains decrease risk of heart failure.
January 3, 2009
Thanks to new findings released by the University of Texas Health Services Center, high-protein, low-carb fad diets can now be kicked to the curb once and for all. According to the 13-year study, increasing our intake of whole grains by just one serving daily can decrease our risk of heart failure by 7 percent, while an extra serving of high-fat dairy or eggs can increase our chance of heart failure by 8 to 23 percent. For your 2009 New Year’s resolution, take one small step toward healthy eating with whole-grain bread, cereal, rice, and pasta.
