FDA inspectors discovered unsanitary factory conditions during a routine observation at Tyson’s plant in Forth Worth, Texas. The plant, which produces soups containing fish, shrimp, and crabmeat, was storing meat at dangerously high temperatures that could generate bacteria and toxins. The FDA also reprimanded the company because it did not document bacterial growth. Representatives from Tyson said the unsanitary meat observed by the FDA was not used in company products, but the FDA disagrees. The company has since revised its temperature control plan.
