The Franklin Park Zoo may have to close its doors. Facing extreme budget cuts by Governor Patrick Degal, zoo officials say they will run out of money by October and will be forced to shut down two locations, one in Franklin Park and one in Stoneham. Already searching for solutions for the animals, the zoo officials say they’ve only found homes for 80 percent of the animals, and those without placement are to be euthanized. Though the plans to close are not yet finalized, it’s certain that the situation is dire for the animals.
