Eating healthy doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg, but what if you live in an area surrounded by fast-food restaurants with no supermarket? Clacton pretty much fits that definition and was named among the most deprived five percent of wards in the UK in 2004. The National Health Service (NHS) has a plan to get healthy options to the area: Vans will deliver produce to areas in Clacton where poor health is a problem. The vehicles will be filled with fruit and vegetables that will be sold door-to-door at reduced prices. Not only will the NHS provide healthy foods, they will also provide recipe suggestions and possibly cooking clubs and tasting sessions. Now, when will this new plan be imported to the states?
