The Washington Post recently featured Brian Manowitz—also known as the Vegan Black Metal Chef—and other YouTube cooking segments in an article about extreme YouTube cooking. The Tampa, Fla., native uses nontraditional tools, including swords and daggers, to slice potatoes and cut red peppers. In his first episode, Manowitz creates pad thai, a Thai noodle dish traditionally made with egg and meat. His first episode has already garnered more than one million hits on YouTube, and he recently released his second episode, “Easy Meal Ideas of the Ages,” covering mashed potatoes, corn, and black beans.
