Retired basketball player John Salley stars in a new public service announcement from the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine that recommends vegan and vegetarian meals for children as a means of fighting diabetes. In the television ad, Salley advises increasing fruit and vegetable consumption and warns that one out of every three children will develop diabetes in his or her lifetime. Salley, whose father was diabetic, has been a vegetarian since 1991 and also has his own line of organic, vegan condiments and snacks. He has previously worked with organizations like PETA and Farm Sanctuary to voice his concerns about animal welfare.
