Columbia Packing Company, located in Dallas, TX was found to be dumping blood from slaughtered pigs directly from its processing plant into a nearby waterway. After being discovered by a hobbyist drone plane flyer, it was revealed that the plant had a pipe that diverted blood from the plant to Cedar Creek, which joins the Trinity River and continues directly to the Gulf of Mexico, through an area popular with kayakers. Owners of the nearly 100-year-old plant denied any malicious wrongdoing, and stated that they would “take any necessary action” to comply with the Texas Environmental Crimes Task Force.
