On October 21, owner of Chicago’s popular Karyn’s chain of vegan restaurants Karyn Calabrese will cook against Lemon Tree Grocer chef and owner Tim Canning in a “Meat vs. Beet” culinary competition benefiting various charities. From 4 to 6pm at Lemon Tree Grocer in downtown Downers Grove, IL, the chefs will host a live cooking demonstration to win over diners with their style of food prep. Calabrese will be cooking one of her restaurant’s most popular dishes, Homemade Classic Lasagna with smoked spinach and tofu ricotta, and Canning will be offering a meat-based lasagna. Ticket sales support Chicago Canine Rescue, Safe Humane Chicago, and the Downers Grove Junior Woman’s Club.
